September 11, 2001

This was one of the saddest occasions in American History. So many innocent lives were lost due barbaric and cowardly attacks. This anniversary is one for an occasion that should never have happened.

As Alan Jackson's song says, Where were you when the world stopped turning? I can tell you. I was waiting for a child I was babysitting to arrive. When his mother brought him, there were tears in her eyes. I asked the problem, and she told me about the attack in New York. As soon as she left I took the little boy in my arms and turned on the news. For hours I sat there and held him close.

His father's job, a Pizza Hut restaurant, closed early so that people could go home to their families. My children came home from school with tears in their eyes and I couldn't let them out of my arms for hours.

My heart grieves for the memory of the innocent lives lost. For the families destroyed and for the soldiers who every single day put their lives on the line to try and ensure that this terror will never happen again.

Please join me as I mourn and pray for the families, for all of you, my sincere sympathy. My hope is that our service men and women may come home safely and soon. Also my thanks for the job you soldiers are doing.

Sincerely,
Donica Covey
