I’m so thrilled! I’d like to take moment to welcome my readers. I’ve noticed that I’ve received hits from people all across our planet. People in places as Espoo Finland, Kazan Russia, Ahmadabad India, Kings Walden in (I think it is?) Great Britain, and Madrid as well as people from all across the United States and Canada. Thank you so much for taking time to stop by and I hope you will each take another minute to drop a signature over at my guest book on my website. There is a link down on the left to take you over there. Or if it’s easier just drop a comment here!
Next month I’ll be spotlighted over at the Moonlit groups blog (http://moonlit_romance.bravejournal.com). And there is my monthly newsletter you can subscribe to, as well as the Magic Mavens newsletter. Both these can be joined through a link that is also found in the lower left column of this blog.
Like everyone else I receive spam and it makes me more than a little crazy…ok crazier…but lately I keep getting this one that is from Witchcraft.com or some such other. The heading is always Discover Your Inner Witch or Have You Discovered Your Inner Witch? And I’m DYING to send them an email back saying discovered her? I’ve found 4 of them living in my head and I’m writing about them as we speak!
I’ve also discovered a few other things along the way. Some people are put off by the pretty image I have on this blog because they think I dabble in witchcraft. I’ve been asked if I’m a Wiccan because of the subjects I write, the research I do, and the symbols I use. The answer is a resounding no. I’m a Christian. I’ve also been asked how can I write about pagans, witches, etc and still be a Christian? Do they think that we can’t enjoy movies, books, and music? We’re not DEAD! It’s called FICTION people! Now I don’t write erotica, or porn or whatever. That’s not what I’m all about.
I have a friend who is published with a publishing house called Samhain. This author is also published as an inspirational writer at another house and one of her Inspy readers emailed her. This reader said something about being disappointed and ashamed for a person who calls herself a Christian to be involved with pagans!
I guess that means Christians can’t celebrate Christmas (based on Pagan traditions! Roman Catholics tailored it in the early centuries so that it would click with their celebration of the birth of Christ. Of course it is my belief if God wanted us to know when to celebrate His birthday it would have been identified in the scriptures.) Memorial Day (because we might elevate someone to status above God). Birthdays because it was originally believed that certain celebrations of the birthday person would drive away evil spirits and invite good ones.
Christians can’t use calendars because rather than using the biblical calendar it has the New Year starting in the dead of winter, the way the pagan Romans set it up. Speaking of New Years, you can’t celebrate that either because after all you’re at parties “carousing” with people, kissing someone other than your spouse. You can’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day; there is no biblical reason for its existence. Easter, Mardi gras, and of course the dreaded Halloween because that’s the night people consort with the devil.
I’m just floored by people sometimes. These people who are so bent out of shape over this topic can be considered hypocrites themselves, for I’m sure they observe one or more of the above listed events. Yet they criticize myself and my friend and others I know.
No matter what I say there are still some who will choose to believe whatever. That’s fine; I know my conscience is clean. And I truly hope that the rest of the world will read my books and enjoy my works of fiction!
Well I’ve said all I can on the subject. I’ve got more “sinful” stuff to write.
Huggles!
Happy Reading,
Donica
