Character Introductions.

I thought I'd do some character profiles on my blog so that you can meet and get to know The characters from the upcoming books. Of course I'm going to start with Storm Duile, the heroine in the October release Elemental Desires: Storm Chasing.

For her appearance I modeled her after one of my favorite actresses, Kate Hudson.

Now that you have an idea of what she looks like, lets get to know her, shall we? I recently asked Storm to sit down and have a chat with me about herself. Here is what she had to say:

DC: Hi Storm! Welcome to the blog. Please tell us a little bit about yourself. Everyone please allow me to introduce Storm Duile

SD: Hi Donica! I’m so happy to be here! Well, what would you like to know?

DC: Whatever you feel up to sharing. This is entry is all about you.

SD: Wow! Thanks so much! Well, there really isn’t a lot to tell. I mean obviously you know I’m a witch. And I deal with the air element.

DC: Were you born a witch? I mean we have television shows and movies about witches. Are they accurate?

SD: To a point. Yes I was born a witch and I’ve seen some of your mortal programs. They are pretty close. Obviously we don’t rush around hunting demons or be guided by angels. We’re not human, you know. None of our relatives are green…oh wait strike that. I had a cousin who married a Troll Prince and her son has a greenish tint with pointed ears, but for the most part we look like your common every day mortal.

DC*nods* So tell me about your powers. I understand that you have many.

SD: Oh yes! I mean like any other witch I can snap my fingers and make myself disappear and reappear wherever. I can say or even think of something I’d like and presto its there. But I have power to control the element of wind. I create storms, gentle spring breezes, tornadoes, hurricanes, and brisk gusts. Things like that.

DC: I understand that your book will contain a great deal of Celtic tradition and Irish words and phrases.

SD: Yes. Each elemental is raised with a specific cultural background and traditions. It helps make us be able feel a connection with some mortals. My mother has relation to some of the Celtic gods and goddesses so it was only fitting that I be raised with strong Celtic influences.

DC: So Ireland is a land you feel connected to?

SD: Yes, in a way. See the Celts weren’t just relegated to Ireland. At one point in your mortal history they were widespread all across what is known as Europe. But here again comes the differences between you and myself. The Celtic deities weren’t any more mortal than I am.

DC: Sounds a tad confusing.

SD: Well, that’s understandable. We do things quite a bit differently that you do here on earth. Basically Aradia is a world that was created by Brighid, her father An Dagda, and the other Celtic gods as a home for them after mortals gave up believing in them. As such Aradia is deeply stemmed in Celtic history.

DC: So all your sisters subsequent tales will have a Celtic flavor as well?

SD: No. Actually Ember’s more into what is today known as Hawaiian heritage. My sister Maryna is deeply ingrained with the Greek Pantheon and our little sister Tara is what today people refer to as Native American.

DC: Such a vast difference! It must be fascinating to know so much about so many different cultures.

SD: *Shrugs* Its our way.

DC: So tell us about this contest.

SD: *giggles* Well my sisters and I come down to earth once a month to make sure that nature is behaving properly. That your world gets all the correct weather forces so that the natural balance stays in order. When we’re not here trying to correct the problems we’re in Aradia, our home world, or visiting other places. Anyway, at our last meeting my sister Maryna (she’s a bit of a trouble maker) decided to break up the monotony of our lives and issued a challenge. To meet a mortal, make him fall in love with us and get him to propose. He must deal with our particular element and we can’t put a spell on him to get to him to fall for us. It’s the whole free will thing.

DC: Ah! So we’ll be hearing wedding bells then?

SD: Well umm no. See the whole point is to get him to fall in love and propose. Once we win, then we can get back to our lives and let him go on with his.

DC: But…couldn’t that break his heart?

SD: *stares down at fingers and shifts uncomfortably in her seat* Well, maybe. But it won’t hurt for very long. He’ll get over it and move on.

DC: Yes. Well. Is there anything else you’d like to share?

SD: I’d really appreciate you not looking at me like that. I’m not trying to be hateful honest I’m not! I’m just not ready to be married. And marrying a mortal, well, it’s just not something that’s done all that often. But to tell you truthfully, the man I’ve met, Vance Nodin, he’s someone I’d seriously consider marrying. I mean have you seen him?

DC *grins* Actually I have and he’s very, VERY sexy!

(At this point I’ve noticed a strange look in Storm’s eyes. I’d swear she was jealous!)

SD: Yes well, he’s mine so keep your mitts off!

DC: So there is something serious developing there!

SD: As I said once I win the contest we’ll break things off. But…well there is something about that man…

(Sometimes Discretion is the better part of valor and when dealing with someone who has magical powers its better to avoid topics that might be worth pursuing. Storm has made it clear that she isn't up for much more conversation about a Vance filled future. Maybe she'll be more forthcoming later. For the time being I decided it would be wise to change the subject.)
DC: Any final thoughts you’d like to share?

SD: Not at this time! I must be flying! Toodles!

DC: Thank…well she was in a hurry. Vanished into thin air! Of course if I had a man like Vance I’d be rushing off too!

SD’s voice echoes across the air I HEARD THAT!

DC: Well! Ahem. Must be going myself!

I'd like to once more than Storm for her time and I'm looking forward to the next blog which will be a sit down with Vance Nodin! Check back! And Storm sent a message by way of Edgar that she'll be coming back for another sit down one day soon. And please allow me to pass on an invitation. Storm has invited you all to ask her any questions you might have. Simple email the questions to my email: donicacovey@hotmail.com and put Questions for Storm in the subject line. She'll give me a reply to pass on to you!

In the mean time I've got to run. See you all soon!

Huggles!
Donica
