...just not on what I should be working on...I’m supposed to be working on the next witch in my series but I got distracted. There is a saying among my writing circles: Write the voices that are speaking to you the loudest. Right now I’ve got a hot detective and his lovely lady practically screaming in my ear.
He isn’t one of my typical heroes. All my heroes usually are extremely sexy, almost physically perfect. But for this book, my hero isn’t classically sexy or hunky. He isn’t almost perfect Greek god type. But he’s still hot and sexy. Standing six foot two, deep chocolate brown brooding eyes. Dark brown hair. Deep brown bushy eyebrows. Determined Jaw. Nose is a little large, slightly crooked. With an enigmatic smile, he melted the heart of the heroine. He works as a narcotics cop in a special task force. He and his team have been in hairy situations before. Putting roadblocks up in the middle of a large drug traffic lane put a kink in the dealers’ chains. His name is Justice Bernard.
The heroine is a graphic design artist who freelances for several companies as well as develops designs of her own. She is petite beside him. Standing only five foot three her sandy blond hair has a slight natural curl and when not swept into an updo falls to mid back. She has large expressive blue eyes and has bit of copper color to her skin. Not deep tan, but just a little color that makes the blue of her eyes really pop. Her name is Callye Ann Simone but Jus calls her Cas.
Depending on how this writing goes I’m thinking of a series. A few months ago I had mentioned a series called Heroes of Hollingsford. The heroes were all Army men. Much as I LOVE men in uniform (Army…Navy….Marine….Air Force…hmmmm) *reaches for napkin* I was having trouble with using them because no matter how much I wanted the heroes to be military I couldn’t come up with just the right conflict. I want to have the absolute perfect ideas to honor the men (and women) who unselfishly give themselves to serve this great country every single day.
So I thought…ok, these guys are narcs and they’ve just pissed off the wrong person. They ruined his business and now he’s going to ruin their lives. In each book he’d have hired guns try to knock the heroes down.
Well used? Pretty much. Everyone hates the drug cartels and uses them as pivots in their story lines. But I have to use things I am familiar with. So I have decided that this may be the answer to my problem. I can still use the basic story ideas, the heroes, and heroines as planned and have believable plots and protagonists.
I think this new idea will give me the twist to feed the stories to life. I am not pitching them to my editor or any other publishing house yet. Because I have the witch series to complete and since I’m hoping these will be a second series for me I’m not ready to be locked into three more books at this point. I want to get some things written and be ready first. If it becomes a series (that I want it too) I may have to find a new name because I want to keep Heroes of Hollingsford for my military men.
It might become a name the series contest? Maybe. You'll just have to wait and see.
Well the voices are picking up again so I need to get back to my file.
Huggles to all!
