Something wicked this way comes

We had storms come through our area, briefly cooling the 100+ temps we've been dealing with. I say briefly because in minutes of the storms passing the temps jumped up by 10+ degrees combining with the moisture in the air and we got free sauna services. Almost 500K people in our area are without power and will be for any where from 3 to 5 days. The temps are back above 100 and for people with illnesses, injuries, the very young and the very small, this means difficulty breathing and dealing with health concerns. Also a boiling order that has been issued for the northern part of our area. There have been shelters opening up for people to come and be in air conditioning and thats wonderful but of course my mind wonders about the members of the population who aren't welcome: Area pets being locked in homes without any releif from the heat.

We were very lucky we lost part of one tree that thankfully fell away from the house, otherwise the large limb would've taken out our porch and my dd's bedroom. And we lost one of my favorite trees in the back, it was sheered off and knocked over the fence into the neighbors yard.

As you can tell we were lucky. Also a few shingles were lifted and removed, but for the most part we were unscathed. Others weren't as lucky. I'm adding some images here from our local news station:

It takes more than a few drops of rain and little bit of wind to keep St. Louis Cardinals Fans from the stadium to watch the redbirds!

and some shows are better than others:

And like I said we were luckier than some:

But things have seemed to calm slightly and they're saying any storms will be East of us. However, those poor people in Illinois don't need any more than they've already seen.

Well I'm off to try and get lost in the Grand Canyon like eyes of my brooding, sexy detective and see if his love will ever be saved.

Huggles for now!
