I wish this week was over. I'm ready for a change for the better.
I've been trying to focus on my new book. I entered a contest on eHarlequin. It's called a logline contest. A logline is just your story explained in one or two sentances. I have to say mine is really REALLY great. I think I have a good chance of winning. Of course this means I have to have the book ready to pitch and if they like my proposal have it and a synopsis written, clean and ready to go out the door. The book as written is almost 150 pages too short. For someone who talks as much as I do, you'd think I'd have an easy time of it...I wish. I have to get this done. Wish there was a magic spell I could incant to make it complete. Then I'd have to use it to write my second witch book as well.
It's snowing here. My DD got out of school early today thanks to the weather. The way they do things here makes me laugh. When we lived in Wisconsin it had to be a driving blizzard with snow piling up over 12 inches before they cancelled school. Even when I was growing up here, we didn't get out alot for snow days. Of course I went to private school (Christain Academy of Greater St. Louis) and we drove the highways. The public school has alot of rural route students and the roads tend to get very messy and bad very quickly.
Congrats Shara! One of my fellow By Grace authors, Shara Jones, got word last week that her book "Tall Dark and Daddy" will be going to Amazon.com within the next week. Thats GREAT news!!! WTG!!!
Time to break out the Christmas tunes. When my kids were little they always knew it was getting close to Christmas when I broke out my favorite CD and had it blaring when they walked in the door. Nothing like listening to "The Crypt Keeper's Christmas Carols" to get one in the mood for the holidays. My library also includes, A Cows Christmas, Elmo and Patsy (Grandma got run over by a reindeer, and various other selections. Of course we have the more traditoinal fare, Elvis and Jim Reeves. Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, Blackmore's Night, The three Tenors, etc. What music gets you into the holiday mood?
Things on the homefront are still strained, but I'm glad of one thing. I didn't go ahead and delete my writing files. This too shall pass. I just wish it would hurry and fly by. Hopefully the new year will bring good vibes and happier times.
I will try to post tomorrow. Next week my grandfather is having surgery and my dad is going down to work the farm and take care of the cattle. I'll probably be joining him. Two sets of hands are better than one. Besides, I could really use the thick smell of cattle. Hearing their gentle lowing. And during the off time, jumping on the ATV and loosing myself in the snow filled woods. Sitting in the quiet stillness, the soft blanket of white under me feet. Coming in to warm by the fire, the smell of Granny's homemade cornbread filling the house. Makes me homesick thinking about it.
Happy Reading. If your being hit with the snow and cold weather, hope you stay safe and warm. Curl up with a good book, a cup of warm cocoa and enjoy it!
Huggles,
Donica
