Whatever Wednesday

It’s been a long and never ending week. Last week my parents were in Vegas and my daughter was in Orlando. Everyone is getting a vacation trip! Okay so technically mom was working—she was at a health care conference.

And, DD wasn’t exactly on holiday, her school was competing the color guard/winter guard/choir/band national competitions. Her school won the most awards! But they spent two days at Universal Studios. She’s begging to go back. Saturday her choir is participation in a competition held at Six Flags. If she hadn’t spent all of her money in Florida she’d be better set.

Souvenirs are a great thing. My parents went to the M&Ms world while they were in Vegas. I collect M&Ms. Dispensers, clocks, cars, tea sets, coffee mugs. If it’s M&M I want it. My dad had to tell me about this dispenser they “almost” got me. It was a slot machine and when you pulled the handle, it shot out the candy. They carried it through the entire store. Then as they were headed to check out they realized that the gift wouldn’t fit in their suitcase. I was like why did you tell me if you didn’t get it for me?!?!?!? LOL

But I did get the coolest M&M shirt. It’s Blue (the M&M character) in an Elvis costume and it says Viva M&Ms—Las Vegas. They got my DD one that has Red wearing the Phantom of the Opera shirt. It’s SO KEWL!

They gave DH a solar powered flashing key chain with his name on it.

I have a Harley “passport” with Gothic images and DD was trying to get it for herself. I said Okay—Trade me the shirt for the passport. She handed it back to me and told me she didn’t want it that bad. Little booger!

OH!!! My dad and mom arrived at the airport and my dad was wearing a CSI Las Vegas hat. I wanted it desperately. He kept teasing me with it. He’d give it to me and then take it back, then give it to me, then take it back. When we went to see the pictures and get our goodies dad handed me the hat. He’s like I don’t like Vegas and I definitely don’t like CSI. I was rendered speechless at that! I think CSI is THE BEST show) Anyway, I got the hat!

While we were packing up and saying goodbye dad’s like, huh. The only souvenir I bought for myself and I gave it to you. I tried to give it back but he swears he didn’t want. He only bought it because his hat was all messed up and it was the cheapest one he could find—and he bought that in a little convenience shop somewhere outside the strip.

DD brought me home a solar powered flashing key chain. It says #1 Grandma. Brat! She knows I hate the g-word! She brought her daddy a mini-mug.

Well, now we’re settling back into our normal routine. Mom’s working, dad’s retired (he retired right before they went to Vegas. Like three days before!). DH is at work, DD is at school. DS is sleeping—he works nights. DDIL and Punky are vegging in front of Square Bob sponge pants.

And, here I sit working on my posts before I go back into writing. I keep finding distractions. My HTML class. My edits for Maryna. My blogs, my websites, my newsletters, my writer’s group newsletter. Anything to avoid feeling like I’m flopping on my butt when it comes to writing.

This new challenge is definitely just that. A challenge. I think I’m having trouble writing this is in the back of my mind I know I’m planning on querying NY with it. I also know I’m terrified of being rejected and that is sabotaging the progress. I began with 20 pages and now only have 60. That’s not good for me. I can usually get into a groove and churn out 40 pages in a day! It has taken me almost a week to get to this point.

Well, guess I better quit messing around. I won’t ever finish at this rate.

Oh look! An author chat! I can spare a few more minutes…
