So mom, dad, my husband and myself were sitting around the table over the weekend and the subject of global warming came up. My mother took a long drink of her cold water and said, “I can tell you why people think there is a global warming situation.”
“Because of the dead penguins? The melting icebergs?” I offer.
“No. Because the majority of the population is the baby boomer generation and all of the women are going through various stages of menopause. Menopause, as we know, causes hot flashes. With the level of hormonal heat flashing across this world no wonder they think we’ve got global warming going on.”
Yeah. I thought it was funny! I mean think about it. In a way she’s got to be right. Think of all the women you know who are going through the change of life right now. Mothers, aunts, cousins, sisters, friends, yourself, its really a lot. Now also consider the unusual fact that it seems when a group of women live/work in the same place their cycles seem to fall into alignment. This can make a home an explosive situation all those hormones building and PMS possessions.
Consider this: When a group of people fill a room the temperature will increase remarkably due to the body heat. Now add in women in the stages of the change and having hot flashes. I don’t know if there have been any scientific studies to check this but I’d be willing to bet that the temperature increases by a good ten to fifteen degrees.
I wasn’t going to share this story because I was trying to think of a way to use it in a book. Maybe nonfiction book about aging. Maybe a fiction book about a woman’s change of life and her having to start over after being left alone due to death/divorce. But I figured what the heck! May as well see if I could get a laugh.
From the lack of comments posted on this blog, emails or drop ins to sign the guest book on my website I’m thinking no one reads this anyway.
So if there is anyone reading this, and you have a thought or comment, not just about the change, global warming or any of the topics I write about, give me a shout anyway! I’d love to know I’m not just talking to myself!
Still haven’t gotten the edits for Callye’s Justice yet, but that’s okay. I know they’ll be in soon and then I’ll be buried up to my eyebrows. Man I can’t wait!!!!
Heading off to see about making some changes in Betraying Chase.

Hi Donica
Love your mum's take on menopause! Does she have one for night sweats? How I hate those! Don't mind the old hot flashes though, I think of them as 'power surges' ;-)
Good luck with your WIP and the edits for Callye’s Justice.
Thanks Tricia!
I've talked to mom and she doesnt have a night sweats thought. If she comes up with one I'll be sure to pass it on along.
Thanks for the comment! Hope to see you around again.
Huggles,
Donica
