There has just been a flurry of activity around our home as we struggle to get everything in line for Christmas and the New Year celebrations. I’m so far behind you’d think I was ahead! I still have 5 people to get gifts for, wrapping ALL the presents, planning meals, and getting cakes ready for Christmas parties.
Stocking Stuffers is NOW available from By Grace! Can I get an OOHH YEAH!!!!! I’m so excited. This is an EXTREMELY short anthology but well worth the time, if I do say so myself. And I do, LOL.
I’ve been in contact with the editor from Samhain and she’s let me know that I should hear word this weekend, but there was no hint if this is going to be an acceptance or a rejection. I thought it would help my nerves to find out what the status was. I was wrong, it’s only worse.
And of course it would be this weekend. Despite my list of still must-be-dones I’m going out of town with my parents to see my Granny and Grandpa. We’ll meet my brother and his family down there. Any one who has seen the book cover for Seeing the Light will get an idea of what the area looks like during the spring. Right now it’s even better. A slight bite to the air the silence and solitude. This is the perfect time of year to saddle up a spirited horse and escape riding, taking my time, through the wooded trails. My breath puffing in the air, the sound of the leaves and snow crunching beneath the hooves as we slowly amble around the hills. Man do I miss my mare!
And then there is the venison…my mouth is just watering. I’m hoping my uncle and my cousin took a deer and is planning on sharing the meat. I know it isn’t necessarily PC to discuss killing and eating your own meat, but honestly? God put them here for that purpose and I intend to take full advantage of it!
I’ve got to share some amazing bands with all of you. I absolutely love Evanescence and Nightwish. Have you all had a chance to check them out? While you’re at it, check out another Finnish band called Sonata Arctica. They have a slightly 80’s sound. A combination Ratt, Rainbow, AC/DC, Queen mix. I LOVE them! Since I’ve gotten…more mature (read old) there are very few concerts I’d like to attend. Trans Siberian Orchestra is one. But if Sonata Arctica ever came to St. Louis I’d gladly stand in the icy pouring rain for tickets. Trust me, that’s saying a lot.
I’ve got laundry to get finished, packing to do, cookies to bake, etc, etc ad nauseum
See you all next week, probably. At least I am going to try and get back before Christmas completely slams me down.
Pop in that new Sonata Arctica CD, pull up that new copy of Do Overs or Dear Micah, relax and HAPPY READING!
Huggles,
Donica
