I have some friends who are Native American, (and some of those prefer Indians to N.A.) who don't celebrate Thanksgiving because its a constant reminder of how their ancestors lives were changed forever. The whites coming in and driving them away, in some cases completely obliterating villages leaving no one left to spring from that group of family roots. In our family, we celebrate not the day, but the taking the opportunity to gather, and spend the day with those we love but due to work schedules, locations or whatever, we finally get to see. So whether you celebrate the meaning of the day, or just use it to be with the ones you love. May you all be safe, blessed, and satisfied with all you have.
Friday
The day that is lovingly (insert heavy sarcasm here) referred to as Black Friday, the day when most all retailers open their doors early and try to entice the public into spending their hard earned money at that location. Some stores offer free goodie packages or gifts if you are numbers 1-200 through the door. Others offer special slashed prices on what is reported to be the "must have" gift of the year. I too was one of those who went through the joys (more sarcasm) of being out in the mad crush of people. But that was a long time ago. Now I sit back and wonder at the commercialism of the holiday.
Again, we dont celebrate this as a religous holiday in my family. For us its the spirit of love, and the family being once again able to gather, those who were unable to join at Thanksgiving are usually able to be with us by Christmas. But we try to avoid the commercialism of the holiday. Yes we still Chrismas shop, but alot of our gifts are handmade. We put our love of family into the gifts and while they may not be visual as perfect as the gifts pepole can buy, they mean more to the recpient. And lets be honest, how many people actually remember gifts they were given 5, 10, 15 and years on back. What sticks out is who was with us, not what we got.
I'm hoping that the reason I havent heard from anyone about Andy's dream is because everyone is too busy getting ready for the holidays...thats a blatant hint folks.
Ok stepping off my soap box. Let's get on with Did You Know. Just to let you all know I will be mixing up the subjects of the DYK for the rest of the month. Some entries will be light and fun, some will be more serious, like with the Salem witch trials and etc.
Anyway without further ado:
More Sabrina the Teen Age with trivia.
In the college years of the series, Soleil Moon Fry is one of Sabrina’s roommates. Many of you may remember Soleil as the cute and quirky Punky Brester.
Sabrina's annoying cousin Amanda is actually played by Melissa Joan Hart's little sister Emily Hart.
I know the DYK was short today, but I think I've been long winded enough.
WOOHOO
I've got some fabulous news!!! Two of my belfry sisters,

Tomorrow is my day to blog over at The Belfry so tomorrows blog, if I get in here at all, will be extremely short.
Well I have a house to scrub until it gleams, some baking to do so I don't have to rush, and a child to rouse and force into helping me out.
How ever (if) you celebrate Thanksgiving, may it be a happy, peaceful and loving time. For all the soldiers who are forced to be away from their families at this time, I pray that they are safe, and are able to come home soon. I'm also very thankful for their sacrifices, and I hope that you all join me, no matter your views on the war, in praying for their safety.
Huggles,
Donica
