What? Oh no, just trying to come up with an attention grabbing header hehehe.
Before I received my final ARC for Dragon's Angel I was looking forward to sitting back and relaxing for a time. At least until after the holidays.
I made the foolish decision to make a quilt for my little Alyx for Christmas. I sat back with all those squares of material--I use 5X5" squares. I began assembling the squares and got down to only 4 swear words a minute--the exact number of times I stab myself with the needle. (Yeah, I hand sew. The machine is heavy, bulky and just a total pain for this. I use the machine for big stuff.)
While I'm working DH and I are watching a television program about storm chasers and they are talking with this meteorologic scientist who has this tricked out car covered with antennas and filled with all this computer equipment.
He and his team are chasing tornadoes all over the place trying to set the car in the center of the vortex to collect data. Along the way they stop to survey damage left behind a tornado. It amazed me to learn how much data they could gather just from the damage. Then they showed him talking to this...I think he was an architect of some kind. They were trying to work out more storm safe building materials.
WEEELLLL, that got me thinking. See my next book in the Elemental Desires series is Storm Chasing. (This book comes out in February) My hero Vance is a storm chasing meteorologist. I had him trying to develop an early warning device, good. After seeing this program my mind started whirling. Vance began whispering to me. I ended up writing my editor and asking if it was too late to do some major rewrites. If I get them in ASAP I can have my rewrites. YAY!
So I start to work immediately. Then I get my ARC for Dragon's Angel. (ARC is advanced reader copy.) This is where I have to focus ALL my attention because this is the final release copy and if I missed something then too bad charlie! It just got missed.
I think okay, I can do this no problem. Until I looked at the calendar. The final edits are due in on Thursday. In two days! ACK! I had been so busy with my rewrites I neglected my ARC.
I've had my eyes glued to the computer trying to complete this and I decided I needed a break. Here I am. On my break.
I guess I've played long enough. See you all another time!

Feel free to send any quilting questions to me. I've been doing it for over 20 yrs now. I began by hand-stitching my blocks, just like you're doing. Now I use the sewingmachine to piece. I still handquilt, altho I'm sending my newer pieces out to be machine quilted, depending on who the quilt's owner will be. ROFL!
