Am I the only one feeling that the year is already beginning to slip away? How did we get to April already? Wasn’t it just January 1st yesterday? Man, it’s so fast. I wish we could slow time down a bit. Yes, there are things coming up this year that I am excited to see happen, most notably the print release of Callye’s Justice followed by the release of Dragon’s Angel—my first fantasy romance. I am very anxious for those things to come along, but not at the expense of the time lost.
I’ll tell you what made me feel like time was slipping far too quickly. Our little Alyx is already almost three months old. It’s too fast! Her babyhood is slipping light grains of sand through the fingers of time.
I used to hear the older folks talk about how when they were kids time crawled by, but when they got older it slipped by so fast if they blinked they’d miss a month. I never understood it then. But I get it now. It seems every time I close my eyes for a second a week has passed me by.
Here I am—the big 4-0 and feeling like Methuselah’s grandmother. There it is. That dreaded g-word. I may be old, I may be wrinkled, I may be tired, but I still have a bit of scrap and I won’t let them hang that title on me—not just yet.
Oops, just blinked, what year is it now?
