I've seen something that enrages me. It's happened off and on for years and it's sickening. People lined up along the streets while a funeral procession passes by.
Are these people bowing their heads? Are they showing respect for the dead? Are they showing appreciationg for all that was done?
No. They're picketing. They're shouting insults. They're holding signs condemming the person that is being taken to their final resting place.
Why? Is the one being buried a terrorist? Is he a mass murderer? A serial killer?
No. It's a soldier who has died fighting for our country. This soldier gave their life to protect our freedom. To battle against those who would come back to America and destroy more lives.
These people have the gall to stand their, proclaim that they are Americans and show utter disrespect for the fallen hero. They show a complete disregard for the family who will never again hold their son or daughter in their arms.
They don't care that the children who are burying their mother or father see how their "fellow Americans" call their parent a coward. A murderer. They see that no one cares that mommy or daddy will not be there to see graduation. Dance at a wedding, meet their grandchild.
You people turn my stomach. How dare you stand their making rude calls, insulting comments while holding a flag.
I'd like to know one thing:
Did you picket the memorial services of those brave souls who died on flight 93? Did you stand at their funeral procession and taunt their family as the cars drove past?
Did you speak out about the fact that these people fought and died preventing any more carnage? Did you call them cowards? Murderers? You completely make me sick and ashamed that you even have the right to be called Americans.
You don't agree with the war. Fine. That's your right. A right given to you by people who died defending your freedom (ironic isn't it?) But how dare you stand there and act like mindless, heartless bastards. How dare you bring added greif to the already greiving families.
"Lest we forget." Sickening how easily some have really forgotten.

Donica,
We have a group in Nebraska, I think they have other groups as well of bike riders. They call themselves Freedom Riders ( I think I have that name right) Anyway, whenever there is a funeral for a fallen soldier, they line the procession and guard the funeral home and the cemetary. Preventing the protesters from getting to close. It's wonderful. I can never understand how people can be so blind in their own beliefs to hurt others. Very sickening.
