So today, May 14, is Dance Like a Chicken Day. There are two songs that pop into my head. One is, of course, the Chicken Dance tune. I know this song has words but I don't know exactly what they are but here is what I can find. For those of you who don't know the Chicken Dance song, well its hard for me to describe. When I was on the fire department in Wisconsin I swear I think we did this dance at every party, every wedding reception and other times. There is a deal with your hands that you form the "chicken head" like when making shadow puppets in the light of a projector. There is the "flapping of your wings" and it was alot of fun, but its been so long since I've done it that I'm not sure I can remember the entire dance. It's not like the Time Warp where once you know it, it pretty much sticks.
Anyway, on with one version of the lyrics:
I'm a rooster on the farm
Cock-a-doodle-doodle-doo
I'm a happy little hen
Cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck cluck, cluck, cluck
There's a comb on my head Cock-a-doodle-doodle-doo
I can lay you many eggs Cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck cluck, cluck, cluck
(sing la, la, la...... when it comes to the middlepart of the song)
We live in a chicken coop
Cock-a-doodle-doodle-doo
On a big and happy farm
Cock-a-doodle-doodle-doo
I say Cock-a-doodle-doodle-doo
I say cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck, cluck
We can do the chicken dance
I know you'll like it too.
Sticking with the chicken theme there are several cartoons that revolve around chickens, but my favorite is Super Chicken. A corn ball cartoon about a graceless superman type chicken and his loyal side kick, a lion named Fred. The theme song lyrics I do know and here they are:

When you find yourself in danger,
When you're threatened by a stranger,
When it looks like you will take a lickin', (puk, puk, puk)
There is someone waiting,
Who will hurry up and rescue you,
Just Call for Super Chicken! (puk, ack!)
Fred, if you're afraid you'll have to overlook it,
Besides you knew the job was dangerous when you took it (puk, ack!)
He will drink his super sauce
And throw the bad guys for a loss
And he will bring them in alive and kickin' (puk, puk, puk)
There is one thing you should learn
When there is no one else to turn to
Call for Super Chicken! (puk, puk, puk)
Call for Super Chicken! (puk, ack!)
Okay enough of this fowl subject. I'm off! See you all soon!
Huggles,
Donica
