Well it's that time again. We get to start with a fresh slate, the past is just that, the past. Hopefully any mistakes we made will be learned from and then we moved on. For me it's a great chance to start over. I've had a rocky past year but I've resolved to move forward with my life and not let the past get me down.
Many people don't make New Year's resolutions as they feel they've failed when they don't acheive their goals. I do make resolutions, alot of them I don't keep, but how can you know where you're going if you don't have a final destination and a map to get there?
For me the resolutions are simple: Move on from the past; budget my time more wisely; spend more time with the people I love; write four books.
To help budget my time more wisely I've purchased a dry erase board with a calendar to keep track of my monthly goals and a smaller one to keep track of my daily goals.
Spend more time with the one's I love, well that's an easy one. I have a time schedule for when I write (my office hours) I also have specific times and dates that I've set aside for my candle business, anything that comes up after those times will have to wait.
Only four books this year? Doesn't seem like alot, does it. But truthfully, in the writing world it is. Of course there are some writers who can whip outthat many in six months. To them I take off my hat and bow low in admiration.
I've also bitten the bullet and entered a contest at Harlequin. The winners will be announced January 19, and my nerves are stretched tight. I'd love to win. To see my book in the Harlequin section of the book store...ah how wonderful. But I'm also terrified of the possibility of winning. I'm happy in my little world. I know the waters here, I know every chasm, every cave. And the other fish are my equals and most of them are my friends. In the unknown waters of the big pond there are many dangers: sharks, bigger fish, nets and hooks. Am I ready for the challenges of the big oceans? We'll have to see.
My time is ticking and I have to get moving. Today my hubby and DD are both home for the holiday but DD has taken off with her aunt and hubby has run to the store so I thought I'd sneak in and post quick. My mom should be phoning soon also. Time for the loved one's is at hand!
Until tomorrow, Happy Reading!
Huggles,
Donica
